Shirley After Work
created by Noelle Brooks
A credit to my generation, I love nothing more after a long day of work than to queue up my favorite new show (currently Brooklyn 99. I'm late, I know), plop myself on my squishy couch (just beige enough to be considered chic), and sip on a drink that is as refreshing as it is intoxicating. And that drink is a Shirley Temple. Well, almost a Shirley Temple. I created my own, with a little extra, that I like to call Shirley After Work (patent pending).
I would love to say I came up with this drink through hours of research and development, testing the best flavors and combinations to create a potent fizzy potion. But honestly, I just had leftovers from cocktails past and figured, why not combine it all! Fortunately for me, this experiment turned out to be pretty tasty. However, this drink packs a punch, so proceed with caution.
Shirley After Work:
1/4 Vodka
1/4 Champagne (Brute or another dry variation)
1/2 Sprite (or something else sweet and fizzy)
A dash of grenadine
One (or three) of these sparkly bad boys, and I am ready to take on my binge night right. Pair it with whatever is edible in your fridge for a superbly sufficient meal. It is one of my favorite drinks for maximum relaxation, and the bubbles make me feel extra fancy, despite the "well-loved" pajamas. Even my cat can feel the class. So bottoms up and pinkie out!
