The Pack is Back

It is no secret that for women’s clothing, the pocket game is not strong. And when it comes to the pockets that are incorporated into women’s clothing, they are not exactly efficient at holding one’s keys, wallet, and phone. We’ve all seen and shuddered at the make-shift bra holder that produces sweaty cash. And while the options are improving (dresses with pockets are increasingly available), more than half of my wardrobe still requires additional assistance when it comes to carrying the essentials. Purses can be the accessory that pulls an ensemble together, true enough. But if you are anything like me, it is easy to resent having to lug one around for hours on end. Purses can be especially cumbersome when biking or walking throughout the week.

Enter the backpack.

Yes, the two-shouldered bag most of us associate with adolescence. They are undeniably efficient for carrying one’s things and can be surprisingly stylish for men and women. To prove my assertion, I reached out to some friends of mine who have embraced the pack’s functionality and incorporated the bag into their wardrobe. Any doubter will see that the pack goes with everything, from the office, to a night out, to the gym.

Professional

Work takes up a significant percentage of our time and is likely the place we are coming and going from most often. This means a professional pack is a must. For work, I try to opt for a sleek fabric like leather/pleather in neutral colors. Tan, black, camel, and navy are my top choices because they can adapt to nearly every ensemble.

Casual

This is the time to get weird. Bright colors, fun fabrics, and risky patterns are all a must. In general, accessories are a wonderful opportunity to make a statement. Let the pack elevate your look to the next level.

sporty

Athleisure doesn’t have to end with the shoes. Choose a backpack that will help your ensemble pop. I usually opt for smaller so I can keep my carry-on light while exercising, but go with whatever works best for your activity needs. The options are endless.

The purses in my closet have been collecting dust these days. As a low-maintenance person, I appreciate the effortless and functional fashion of pack. Backpacks have become a go-to for me. As I have used them more and more, I’ve been seeing them more and more. Nothing beats handsfree.

The pack is back. Lean into it. I promise it’ll change the game.
